Only Leon County is approved for FEMA individual assistance. The Florida Realtors Disaster Relief Fund is accepting applications for 15 North Florida counties.
TALLAHASSEE – President Joe Biden on Tuesday approved a disaster declaration for Florida after several areas were affected by deadly tornadoes and other storm damage last month.
Florida Realtors Disaster Relief Fund Accepting Applications
Applications are currently being accepted for members of the Florida Realtors family who sustained damage during:
- Flash flooding in South Florida on June 11, 2024; applications close December 12, 2024.
- Tornado events in North Florida on May 10, 2024; applications close November 11, 2024.
- Severe weather events in Florida on January 9, 2024; applications close July 9, 2024.

The declaration ensures that affected individuals in Leon County have access to Federal funding after storms on May 10.
Grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans for uninsured property loss, and other programs are available to individuals and business owners affected.
The state and local governments can also apply for funding for emergency repairs in the following counties: Baker, Gadsden, Hamilton, Lafayette, Leon, Liberty, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor and Wakulla.
Leon County is the only county approved for individual assistance through FEMA, according to the Florida Division of Emergency Management.
“The Division is committed to ensuring the most assistance possible is available to disaster survivors,” Executive Director Kevin Guthrie said in a statement. “I encourage homeowners and renters in Leon County to start their FEMA application immediately to ensure they don’t miss any federal assistance deadlines and give themselves ample time to receive all support possible on their road to recovery.”
Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey said the cost of the storms has already topped $50 million.
