NAR released a new Consumer Guide focused on listing agreements to educate customers working with real estate professionals.

WASHINGTON — What is a listing agreement? What services might be included in one? How do I know what might work best for me?

These are just some of the questions sellers might have when asked to sign a listing agreement and covered by the National Association of Realtors®’ new Consumer Guide. The Listing Agreement Consumer Guide is the 10th in NAR’s series and designed to educate customers as they go through the buying and selling process following the practice changes that began on Aug. 17.

All of the guides can be viewed at the NAR website facts.Realtor or printed as handouts. Most are available in English and Spanish. NAR said the new Listing Agreement Consumer Guide doesn’t constitute any change to its policies.

“Real estate professionals must ensure they market properties consistent with relevant MLS rules and educate sellers on the choices available,” NAR said.
