New data highlights income benchmarks in Florida cities, offering a look at how earnings align with current cost of living trends.

ORLANDO, Fla. — The average single adult in Florida needs about $101,000 to live comfortably, while Florida families need closer to $223,000, according to a new study by SmartAsset.

In Miami and Hialeah, a single adult needs about $108,077 annually, while a family of four would need roughly $231,130. That compares to median household incomes of $66,337 in Miami and $57,151 in Hialeah.

Other Florida markets show similar trends. In Cape Coral, a single adult needs about $105,040, compared to a median household income of $85,584. In Tampa, the figure is about $102,710, while median income sits near $84,114.

Even in relatively more affordable areas, the gap remains. Orlando requires about $93,475 for a single adult to live comfortably, compared to a median household income of $77,597. Jacksonville shows a similar pattern, with a needed income of $92,518 versus a median of $72,389.

For families, the numbers climb even higher. Across the cities analyzed, a working family of four generally needs between $211,000 and $231,000 annually to maintain a comfortable standard of living.
